Pay your fees with Librix payment!
Librix Cash has especially been developed for making fee/debt payments in your library. With this integrated software solution, the patron can pay his or her outstanding debt with cash and coins. It also will return coins when necessary.
The Librix Cash module contains a coin accepter, a bill validator and two hoppers for change.
When the Librix Cash module receives a message from the library database as soon as a patron has gone over the debt threshold*, Bibliocheck4 will automatically show the debt payment screen. As soon as the patron has paid enough and is under the debt threshold again he or she can end the payment session and lend items again.
Change
The Librix cash module can pay out all euro coins. The two hoppers that can contain one specific coin can hold a maximum of approximately 2,000 coins per hopper. To make sure an appropriate amount of change can be given, during payment on-screen currency symbols indicate which notes and coins the patron can use to pay**. When the patron pays with a coin or note that is not indicated, the Librix Cash module returns that specific coin or note.
To optimize your service to your patrons, when the Librix Cash module does not hold the exact right amount of change, it can give back more cash than necessary. This will result in a reduction of the patron’s debt, but still enables the barred patron to lending new items again***.
Software
As Librix Cash is fully integrated in our self-service software, the module can be fully configured in Bibliocheck4.
In the admin function you can configure the following:
- Currency values to accept
- Enable / disable change
- Set maximum amount of change to be given out during 1 event
Additionally, via our online platform Librix Online, you can receive out-of-change notifications and log events. For these events you can view the following:
- The total debt at the start of the transaction
- How much the patron has paid in
- How many change has been given
Also, in the unlikely event that something out of the ordinary occurs, Librix Online can send you a notification via email.
* In order to recognize when a patron has gone over the debt threshold and is barred from lending as a consequence, Bibliocheck4 needs to receive a message from the database of the Library Management System. As long as this is not the case, Bibliocheck4 cannot start the payment session automatically.
** As the coins that are used for change are counted but not validated by the Librix Cash module, library staff is responsible for filling the hoppers with the correct change.
***3 Example: a patron has a debt of €4,50. Because the library’s debt threshold is set on €4,00 the patron is not allowed to lend items anymore. At the Librix Cash module, he or she pays with a 5 euro bill. As the library staff has not had time to refill it, the Librix Cash module does not contain €0.50 coins anymore, but can still return €1,- coins. As a result Librix Cash give €1,00 in change. Consequently, the patron still has a €0.50 debt (€4,50 - €5,00 + €1,00), but is able to lend books again.
